Bobby Wade, who led the Minnesota Vikings in receptions in 2007 and ’08, was scooped by the Kansas City Chiefs after being cut by the Vikings and stepped into a starting role opposite Dwayne Bowe.
Wade, a fifth-round selection in the 2003 draft by the Chicago Bears out of the University of Arizona, caught 54 passes for 647 yards and three touchdowns in 2007, and followed the next year with 53 catches for 645 yards and two TDs.
The Vikings inexplicably cut Wade just before the first game of the 2009 regular season – and just after they made him take a pay cut. Wade attended Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and earned letters in football, track & field, soccer and basketball. As a senior, he was the USA Today High School Football Player of the Year and he helped lead his team to the Class 5A State Championship. In track & field, he won the Class 5A triple jump title as a senior.
Bobby played three seasons for the University of Arizona Wildcats as a wide receiver. In 33 games, he caught 200 passes for 2,897 yards and 19 touchdowns.
His career numbers include 44 starts in 7 seasons, 208 receptions for 2,491 yards and 7 touchdowns.
